Since clay tiles are cheaper and also environment friendly, they are often used in the construction industry for building works. Most of the times they are mounted on pre-fabricated structure to reinforce the construction work and to give them modular shape.
Such pre-fabricated clay tile systems include one way beams as well as slab constructions as well as exclusive one-way slab construction. One way beams are spaced parallel to each other at regular intervals between the already constructed load bearing walls. Conversely steel beams are also used for the purpose.
Gap among the beams are filled with the clay tiles that are capable of spanning the cavities existing between adjacent beams. They can be spanned between previously constructed load bearing walls, joists, or steel beams.
Use of clay tiles require site-cost concrete topping in case of both beam as well as in the slab system. Advantage with the system is the construction of supporting systems is rendered redundant in the process.
